On January 11, the Sunday after Christ’s Nativity, that of the Holy Ancestors of God, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

The clergy and parishioners of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City celebrated the great feast of the Nativity of Christ. The solemn All-Night Vigil on Tuesday the 6th and Divine Liturgy on Wednesday the 7th of January were officiated by His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York.

I sincerely greet you all on the radiant feast of the Nativity of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ, and I address you with the words of the ancient Christian hymn: "Christ is born, give ye glory! Christ cometh from heaven, meet ye Him! Christ is on earth, be ye exalted!" (Irmos of the first Ode of the Nativity Canon).

The Russian-language documentary series "Jordanville: Heart of Russian Orthodoxy in the USA" on Channel Spas introduces viewers to the life of Orthodox Christians in Jordanville, NY, and tells the story of Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary, and St. Job of Pochaev Printshop.

On January 4, the Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, that of the Holy Fathers, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

On January 3, the Saturday before the Nativity of Christ, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, visited Holy Protection Church in Buena, NJ, where he led the reading of the Akathist to the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God in Slavonic and English.

The third season of restoration work has been completed at the historical Orthodox cemetery of the Holy Dormition Convent in Novo-Diveevo. This past season, work focused on the repair and restoration of crosses and tombstones damaged by weather and the passage of time.

The Synodal School of Liturgical Music has now opened general registration for the 2026 summer session at Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, running from July 13-25.

On Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of December – the Sunday of the Holy Forefathers – His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr Church in Columbia, SC.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, on Saturday, December 27, while the Orthodox Church was immersed in the Nativity Fast, a small corner of the Lomas community became the setting for an everyday miracle. During a meeting of the Synod of Bishops, held on Tuesday, December 9, the archpastors discussed the matter of filling the ranks of the episcopacy. 

On Thursday, December 25, the feast of the Holy Hierarch Spyridon of Tremithus and Venerable Herman of Alaska, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in Nativity of the Mother of God Church in Albany, NY.

On Monday, December 22, youth from across the Eastern American & Canadian Dioceses donned their winter outerwear and began their trek by automobile, train, and plane to the capital of New York State – Albany – for the start of the 46th Annual St. Herman Youth Conference.

On Monday, December 22, when the Holy Church celebrates the Conception by St. Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos and the icon of the Mother of God "Unexpected Joy," Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York paid an archpastoral visit to the eponymous church in Staten Island, NY and celebrated Divine Liturgy there on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast.

On December 21, the 28th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York paid an archpastoral visit to St. Andrew Stratelates Cathedral in St. Petersburg, FL, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy.

On Friday, December 19,  the feast of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Wonderworker, the clergy and parishioners of the eponymous church in Endicott, NY celebrated their patronal feast day.
